Exciting Opportunity for a Laser Processing Specialist at TWI

TWI’s Specialist Materials and Joining Section covers a diverse range of precision joining processes and high performance materials, with work including materials and process selection and development in five key technology strands – Precision Joining, Laser Processing, Furnace Processing, Prototype Development and Sol-Gel Processing.

Following an internal transfer, we are now seeking a Principal Project Leader to lead the Laser Processing strand. This exciting opportunity represents one of the section’s major growth areas, with access to a broad range of small scale precision lasers available to deliver solutions to industry.

 

Key responsibilities include development of business in the field, project management and technology enhancement. You will have a track record which encompasses science and technology in a materials discipline and relevant industrial experience, together with a particular focus on practical experience in laser welding, drilling and cutting. Knowledge of other precision joining processes or laser weld metallurgy would also be an advantage.

Good written and verbal communication skills, customer focus and self-organisation are essential. You should also be able to demonstrate a track record in developing business and will be expected to achieve business development targets as well as technical objectives. You will preferably be working towards, or hold, Incorporated or Chartered status linked to membership of a relevant professional institute.
