Gold medal Olympian opens world class facility

A record number of visitors attended the TRUMPF UK In-Tech 2012 open house recently. The event showcased several fabrication systems new to the UK. As a result, machine orders totalling £4.2 million have been confirmed.

The event also introduced visitors from UK manufacturing industry to brand new customer facilities at the TRUMPF Technology Centre in Luton. The latest wave of development has resulted in the building of a dedicated tooling centre and an auditorium that can seat up to 100 guests. Alongside further investment in its training suites, the creation of the auditorium provides TRUMPF with world class facilities for workshops, seminars and other customer events.

The new auditorium and Technology Tooling Centre were officially opened by Gold Medal Olympian, Greg Rutherford.
In-Tech 2012 was the icing on the cake for TRUMPF UK whose performance in the last financial year has also been record breaking. In delivering his status report on TRUMPF UK, MD Scott Simpson emphasised the growing importance of value-added services to the UK manufacturing community.

He confirmed that TRUMPF had increased sales in the financial year 2011- 2012 by 27%. Impressively this figure is 17% greater than the previous record year, an achievement that Scott Simpson largely attributes to TRUMPF UK’s services-led business.

“TRUMPF UK is now a one-stop-shop supplier. We can supply pre-owned as well as new machines, dedicated finance and a market-leading customer support services delivered by knowledge-based personnel. Oxford Economics forecast fairly flat growth of 2% next year but at TRUMPF we’re more optimistic. We are on target to reach £43.3m at the close of the 2012- 2013 financial year based on a lot of new machine sales.”

Clearly In-Tech 2012 has made a significant contribution to that tally. In total, orders valued at £4.2m have been placed for 14 machines that span a range of TRUMPF technologies. Notably they include four TruPunch 3000 machines with compact automation, a configuration that was shown for the first time in the UK at the open house event. Also included is the UK’s second, entry level TruLaser 1030 fiber and the UK’s first TruMatic 7000 installation, TRUMPF’s latest generation combination machine.
