Become a Member or Registered Visitor

Why does AILU have a registration scheme?
To put your mind at rest, any data you provide will be treated in confidence. We will not sell, rent, share or lease your personally identifiable information to others. We will not disclose it to any third parties, unless we are required to, or permitted to by law, or where you have given us your consent in advance.

AILU is not a commercial organisation. The only 'advertising' that you might ever receive from us would be occasional an email notice of a forthcoming technical workshop, and you can opt out of these by requesting 'unsubscribe' the first time one arrives.

There are several reasons why we ask people to register:

  • To block the site from persons, real and virtual, whose aim is to corrupt the site.
  • So that we can provide you with any information (e.g. for technical details) that, as a registered user, you may request from the site.
  • The people (AILU members) will only give time to respond to site requests for information   if they have confidence that the person making the request has a serious interest. You demonstrate this by providing your details.
  • By registering and providing some information we can assess the interests of organisations  using the website. This helps us to work more effectively, in providing appropriate services and information.

Registration is FREE and open to all.

What are the benefits of FREE registration?
Registration gives you access to additional functions of the website including the facility to:

  • Submit technical questions through the Laser FAQ's
  • Email sales enquiries direct to a subset of members in the Product and Services Directory through the link in the directory.
  • Offering items for sale to AILU members.
  • Submit a ‘situation wanted’ to the AILU membership.
  • Receive flyers for workshops matching your areas of interest.

If you are an AILU member you are already registered to use all features of the site, including the on-line magazine, and you will have been issued a password. When you log in a number of new links providing access to the members area and magazine will appear in the left hand column of the site display.

If you have previously registered on this site as a visitor, which is FREE, you will already have a password.

If you have forgotten your password, the ‘Forgotten Password’ link in the Log In area will cause a new password to be sent to your registered email address. You can change your password to something more memorable once you have successfully logged in. If you need further help, please contact staff at the AILU office.

To check or amend your details on the AILU database, including your password, you need to log in and then take the ‘Update details’ link that appears in the Log In area

If you do not have a user name and password but have had dealings with the Association, you can first check to see if a user name and password has already been assigned to you by using the ‘Forgotten Password’ link in the Log In area and enter your current email address. Otherwise you will need to complete a registration form. This same registration form is used to simply register to use the site (the default, which is FREE) or to apply for AILU membership: you make this choice at the end of the form.

Joining the Association

Corporate Membership

The first member to join from an organisation whose activities are related to laser materials processing must enrol the organisation as a Corporate Member.  For Multi-nationals each site (with a different location/post code) must have one Corporate member before "Individual Membership" can be used.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Corporate Membership: GBP 290 + VAT

Individual Membership

Any additional employees of a Corporate Member company, or persons whose business activities is unrelated to laser materials processing.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Individual Membership: GBP 70 + VAT

Concessionary Individual Membership

There is a concessionary rate available for retired and unemployed persons.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Concessionary Individual Membership: GBP 50 + VAT

Student Individual Membership

This is available to any full time student.

For 2008/9 the UK and international rates are:

  • Student Individual Membership: GBP 25 + VAT
