The MTC (Manufacturing Technology Centre) was established to prove innovative manufacturing processes and technologies in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions. The MTC houses some of the most advanced manufacturing equipment in the world, creating a high quality environment for the development and demonstration of new technologies on an industrial scale. This provides a unique opportunity for manufacturers to develop new and innovative processes and technologies
The MTC has outstanding facilities covering 10 technology themes: Laser processing, Net shape & Additive Manufacturing, Materials engineering, Manufacturing simulation, Informatics, NDT & Metrology, Intelligent Automation, Advanced Tooling & Fixturing, Electronics Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Operational Efficiency. The MTC also hosts the National Centre for Net Shape and Additive Manufacturing (NCAM) as well as the home of the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC). The AMTC offers a great facility for training and upskilling of the next generation of engineers and technicians in a wide range of engineering disciplines including machining, intelligent automation, metrology and additive manufacturing. With over 15,000m2 of workshop space, the MTC hosts an extensive range of state-of-art equipment and facilities including high and low power laser processing cells and equipment, CNC machining centres, various configurations of AM and hybrid machine-tools, industrial robotic cells, metrology and NDT equipment amongst others.
