SUMMARY:Laser Surface Texturing
DESCRIPTION:Event Sponsors\n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n\n  \nIntroduction\n \nChair: David Waugh (Coventry University) \nLaser surface texturing is being applied to more and more applications\, as the technology to treat surfaces improves and treatment rates increase the process is becoming more cost-effective.  In this workshop\, we will have presentations from industry on the laser and optical tools that are used to apply textures\, as well as from research organisations with experience of applying the latest know-how to speed up the process and apply it to new materials and applications. \nThe use of laser surfaces can be for modifying the wettability (making surfaces attract or repel water droplets) or the tribology (modifying the performance of a surface regarding friction or wear) or the optical reflectivity of surfaces (changing colour or contrast). These surfaces can be used in applications as diverse as biomedical\, surgical implants\, aircraft surfaces\, engine and gear train components\, white goods and currency or luxury goods. \nAs well as providing a forum to exchange ideas\, this physical workshop (at Cranfield University) will be backed up by a range of industrial exhibitors and networking opportunities over lunch and coffee breaks. \nSome of the speakers and delegates for this event will join via Zoom to take advantage of the hybrid nature of the workshop\, which makes it easy for international attendance and positions it at the centre of this topic with a range of international speakers from Europe and further afield. \n  \n  \nProgramme\n09.30 – 10.00   Registration and Refreshments \n10.00 – 10.10   Welcome & Introduction\nDavid Waugh\, Coventry University (UK) \n10.10 – 10.30  The Frictional Performance of Laser Textured Sintered  Carbide Cutting Tools\nPaul Butler-Smith\, Manufacturing Technology Centre (UK) \n10.30 – 10.50  Innovative applied surface structures in the electronic assembly industry\nFraser Shaw\, Watt Laser (UK) \n10.50 – 11.20  Harnessing the power of diffractive optics to enable high throughput laser surface texturing\nNatan Kaplan\, HoloOr (Israel) \n11.20 – 11.50  Break – Tea\, Coffee & Networking  \n11.50 – 12.10  Laser-enabled Surface Engineering: Technology Advances in Addressing Industry Applications and Process Requirements\nStefan Dimov\, Birmingham University (UK) \n12.10 – 12.30  A roadmap for mass production of USP-laser textured surfaces\nGirolamo Mincuzzi\, ALPhANOV (France) \n12.30 – 12.50  Multi-beam processing with the next generation of high intensity laser systems\nDanijela Rostohar\, HiLASE (Czech) \n12.50 – 14.00  Lunch & Networking with Delegates & Exhibitors \n14.00 – 14.20  Laser surface engineering: from diamond to polymer\nManuela Pacella\, Loughborough University (UK) \n14.20 – 14.40  Exceeding the state of the art in Direct Laser Interference Patterning\nSabri Alamri\, Fusion Bionic (Germany) \n14.40 – 15.00  Laser engineering and functionalization of biomimetic surfaces\nEmmanuel Stratakis\, Biomimetic (Greece) \n15.00 – 15.30  Break – Tea\, Coffee & Networking \n15.30 – 15.50  Fibre-based Mach-Zehnder interferometer manufacturing using UV femtosecond laser pulses\nKamile Kasaciunaite\, Light Conversion (Lithuania) \n15.50 – 16.10  Beam Shaping Options for Improving Throughput in Laser Surface Texturing\nSteve Kidd\, PowerPhotonic (UK) \n16.10  Close \n\n  \nLocation\nPlease click image below to open pdf (N.B .this is a 2-page document) \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nVenue\nCranfield Management Development Centre\, Bedfordshire\, MK43 0HG \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nNearby accommodation \nThe Swan Revived Hotel\n33 High Street\nNewport Pagnell\nMK16 8AR \n+44 (0) 1908 610565\ninfo@swanrevived.co.uk\nhttps://www.swanrevived.co.uk/ \n  \nHarben House Hotel\nTickford Street\nNewport Pagnell\nMK16 9EY \n+44 (0) 1908 215600\nsales@harbenhouse.co.uk\nhttps://www.harbenhouse.co.uk/ \n  \n\n  \nAILU EVENT T&Cs\nSee AILU Event Terms and Conditions here.\n____________________________________ \nBy registering for this meeting you agree that you are happy for AILU and Sponsors to contact you after the event \n
