ILAS 2023, the 8th biennial International Laser Applications Symposium took place from 22-23 March 2023 in Daventry, UK. The event was another resounding success, exceeding expectations in attendees and reaching similar volume to 2019.
The symposium was attended by over 200 delegates from industry and academia, and it attracted international delegates and speakers from 13 countries to share the latest knowledge and research in laser material processing applications.
30 exhibiting organisations participated in the symposium and were delighted with the footfall. The exhibition space was in the spacious hotel lobby and many new connections and enquiries resulted from the 2-day networking exhibition.
Overall, there were 80 presenters, including 3 plenary and 18 keynote speakers. The topics covered included all the major laser applications and were a mixture of research updates from academia and industrial applications and technology updates from industry.
ILAS, as in previous years, offered a great networking opportunity for attendees to connect with experts and peers in the field. Participants were able to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and build relationships with other professionals in the industry.
“We are thrilled with the success of ILAS and grateful for the tremendous support from our sponsors, exhibitors, and speakers,” said Dave MacLellan. “The event provided an excellent platform for sharing the latest trends and innovations in laser material processing, and we were pleased to see the high level of engagement from the attendees.”
In a post-event survey, over 85% rated the event as above average or exceptional, with 93% saying they would recommend future ILAS events to a colleague.
After the event, delegates are able to download the presentation slides and watch the videos of the recorded sessions. We look forward to an exciting ILAS 2025 which will celebrate 30 years of AILU, which was founded in 1995.
