Luxinar showcases latest CO2 source in Italy

Luxinar is showcasing its CO2 and ultrashort pulse laser sources at MECSPE, Bologna, Italy, from 29-31 March.

The SR e 9.3µm series is the latest in Luxinar’s well-established SR series of sealed CO2 laser sources, targeting the electronics industry, where high peak power and low HAZ are required. The SR e series is ideal for processing polarising film, removing excess bonding agent, and laser texturing; applications that need perfect edge quality and minimum disruption of the surrounding area. The SR 10e, with up to 115W average output power and 330W peak output power and the SR 15e, with up to 160W average output power and 460W peak output power, offer fast processing capabilities and high-quality results.

As with the rest of the SR series, the SR e series have a rating of IP66; this means they are ideal for the harshest industrial environments to ensure high protection against water and dust ingress. The output beam is in the same place on all the SR series, allowing power upgrades with minimal design changes; and an integrated RF power supply that is replaceable in the field reduces production downtime. The simple control interface and compact mechanical design of the units allow easy integration into laser-based processing machines used for cutting, marking, perforating, and drilling, among others.

The LXR series represents Luxinar’s first range of ultrashort pulse laser sources, a patented technology that has revolutionised materials processing. Its short pulse width (800 ± 100fs) virtually eliminates heat diffusion to the surroundings of the processed region, enabling ultrahigh precision micro- and nanofabrication of various components. LXR provides high throughput and repeatability due to its beam quality, flexible control, and pulse on demand. Its fast burst mode increases material removal while maintaining high-quality machining, and external controls available via MCU, PC and web server app allow local or remote diagnostics and monitoring.

The SR AOM series, with powers up to 150W, is designed to address a wide range of high-precision applications that require a reduced heat-affected zone, such as multilayer thin film cutting for the display market and high resolution/speed marking. A CO2 laser with an integrated acousto-optic modulator, the SR AOM creates optical rise and fall times of less than 1µs to minimise unnecessary heat energy from typical pulse rise/fall times of approximately 60µs.

Luxinar’s OEM 100iX sealed CO2 laser source with a power range of 50-1000W and wavelength of 10.6µm is an extension to the company’s OEM series using the same proven RF-excited slab laser design. The 1kW laser source provides higher speeds and increased productivity for processes such as high-volume cutting, kiss cutting, scoring, multi-ply cutting, and die board cutting for the packaging, automotive and textile industries. A narrow wavelength band (0.25µm) and typical power stability (± 3%) deliver high process repeatability.

Walter Gensabella, Regional General Manager of Luxinar Italy, explains: “We look forward to exhibiting at MECSPE. We can easily present our range of laser sources for the manufacturing industry and the benefits of working with a company that has 25 years of experience in laser technology.”
