Trotec’s solution for speedier laser marking of curved objects

Without time-consuming clamping and set-up or slow mechanical turning, Trotec’s laser solution can mark round or conical parts up to 100 times faster.

Trotec’s customer needed a quick and easy way to personalise large quantities of bottles, cups and the like. Typically, round or conical workpieces are clamped in flatbed systems or Galvolasers in a turning device. But this process is too time-consuming for large volumes. There is no standard solution on the market.

Developing completely new products costs customers time and money, so Trotec usually uses the SpeedMarker workstations or the InMarker integrated laser series as a starting point. In this particular case, Trotec equipped a SpeedMarker workstation with a 3D function and a workpiece holder that allows the user to mark four cups at the same time. As with its galvo systems, this system is controlled by the proven SpeedMark softwares, making it easy to process dynamic data.

Thanks to the plug-in system, the workpiece carrier can be quickly assembled and disassembled as required. This means that the system can also be used for flat workpieces. For higher part numbers, systems with a larger workpiece holder, such as a SpeedMarker 1300, are also available. The laser power can also be selected from 45-120 watts to suit  specific applications. Without the need for time-consuming clamping and set-up or slow mechanical turning, cups, glasses, bottles and other angled surfaces, spheres, bowls, cylinders and tubes can be marked up to 100 times faster.
